A Look Back at 2018
To God Be the Glory
As 2018 draws to an end, we would like to look back at what God has been pleased to do in and through Crossway over the last 12 months.
As the world is ever changing, Crossway—originally founded 80 years ago—remains committed to its original mission: proclaiming the gospel through publishing and other means in order, by God’s grace:
- To bring men, women, and children to Christ as their Lord and Savior;
- To help individual Christians and the church grow in knowledge and understanding of the Christian life;
- To bear witness to God’s truth, beauty, and holiness, and to the Lordship of Christ in every area of life; and
- To glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in every way.
New Bibles
In the last 12 months, we published over 20 new Bibles—all conceptualized, designed, typeset, and printed to bear witness to the gospel and the truth of God’s Word in all of life and serve the needs of the global church, to the honor and glory of the Lord.

- The Greek New Testament, Produced at Tyndale House, Cambridge, Reader’s Edition

Gospel Tracts
By the end of 2018, over 19,000,000 gospel tracts will have been sold and distributed around the world via churches, evangelistic ministries, and individual Christians.
Originally known as Good News Publishers, Crossway was founded in 1938 through the evangelistic ministry of Clyde and Muriel Dennis, two people who cared deeply about the advance of the gospel. The Dennis family found that tracts could have a unique and strategic role to play in the work of evangelism, printing over 50 million tracts during World War II alone.
Worldwide Bible Distribution
In the last 12 months, over 26,000,000 printed editions of the ESV were published and distributed around the world—with most of these being complete Bibles or New Testaments distributed free through evangelistic ministry partnerships on six continents.
Digital Access to God’s Word
Finally, in 2018 the text of the ESV Bible was accessed digitally over 1,600,000,000 times around the world, in partnership with other global ministries via the web (e.g., esv.org) and free mobile apps (e.g., the ESV Bible app for iOS).
We’re grateful for the Lord’s provision this past year and look forward to seeing how he works in 2019!
