An Exciting Update Related to the Global Study Project

Dear Friend,

Throughout the month of December, Crossway invited the help of our readers and supporters to distribute 250,000 free copies of the ESV Global Study Bible to church leaders in India, Africa, and Asia, and to provide free digital access to the Global Study Bible on a worldwide scale.

Today, by God’s grace and with the help of 2,500 friends from more than 35 countries around the world, I am pleased to announce that . . .

  1. The 250,000-copy, Global Study Bible project has been fully funded (at more than $1 million).

  2. The printing order for 250,000 copies was placed about three weeks ago.

  3. All of the plans and ministry partnerships are in place to provide free, personal, face-to-face distribution of the Global Study Bible beginning this September . . .

  4. Which will be hand-delivered, to strategic leaders, in strategic places—especially in India, Africa, and Asia, wherever the need is greatest around the world.

In addition to this, the free mobile app for iPhone and iPad, as well as the free online Global Study Bible have already launched. In fact, you can download the new free mobile app right now at the Apple App Store; or go to ESVBible.org for the free online Global Study Bible. (Sorry, the app for Android is still under development, but is planned for completion this fall.)

Our hope and prayer and dream now is that the distribution of 250,000 copies of the free Global Study Bible, as well as the free web app and free mobile app, may be used by the Lord on a massive global scale—for the sake of the Gospel, for the service of the Church, for the salvation of souls.

We rejoice to see the Lord’s gracious hand of provision for the Global Study Bible project. As shown in the map above, on-the-ground ministry partnerships are already in place for distribution in more than 60 countries. We would be very grateful for your prayers now, as the printing production is completed this summer, and as the face-to-face personal distribution of 250,000 copies is carried out this fall—in places where the need for God’s Word is greatest around the world.

As the Lord has faithfully promised, “I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6b). For “the hand of the Lord has done this” (Isaiah 41:20). May we give all glory to the Lord alone (Psalm 115:1).
